The first email that I received from Peaceful Company had a little blurb about the peaceful person contest. Immediately I thought of one of my newest yoga instructors, Phil Fulton. Finally many emails...and even more yoga classes later, I feel that I know Phil well enough to write about him for this contest.
Phil Fulton is the most selfless person that I know. Each one of the yoga classes that he teaches is not to benefit himself; it is to inspire others to find serenity and acceptance within themselves. One thing that he stresses over and over in every single class...other than to breathe...is to listen to your own body. Not listening to what our bodies are telling us is what leads to high stress levels and lack of tranquility.
"Wherever your body is at is perfect. You don't need to stress over it or try to change it. Just be happy with where you are today." This is one of my favorite phrases that I have heard come out of Phil's mouth. Helping others become more comfortable in their own skin is a gift that Phil possesses.
I have seen people of all sizes and shapes come in and out of Phil's yoga class. Most of them to return, wanting that feeling of self-acceptance that they have after each class over and over again. I have found that every time I work with Phil, the feeling of self-acceptance that I have after each class is prolonged.
Phil exhibits this feeling of serenity. He is not only a "peaceful person" but also someone who is able to spread his peace to those around him. Because he is able to share this feeling of tranquility with others, he truly deserves to be honored.
Namaste,
Sara Stark
